Receptions and Open Houses

There are many ways to add some fun to your professional development at the ASHA Convention—relax and connect with colleagues and friends at these social events. Some events may require tickets (as noted); tickets may be purchased or reserved through registration.

Special Interest Group Open Houses and Networking Meetings

Each of ASHA’s 20 Special Interest Groups (SIGs) will be hosting a social gathering for professional networking in the SIG’s topic area(s) during the ASHA Convention. Hear updates about what the SIGs have accomplished in the last year and what they are planning for the future. These free evente are open to all current SIG affiliates and anyone else who would like to meet SIG volunteers, ask questions about the SIGs, and share ideas. The schedule of SIG Open House and Networking Meetings will be available on the ASHA website, as well as in the Program Planner and ASHA Convention mobile app (see Meetings & Social).

First-Timers' Welcome Reception (Professionals)

Is this your first ASHA Convention? Come to this popular gathering to get an overview of the event and to preview programs and activities slated for the next three days. You'll have an opportunity to meet the ASHA president and Convention co-chairs, as well as other ASHA staff and volunteer representatives who can provide guidance for your first ASHA Convention. The First-Timers' Welcome Reception is also an opportunity to connect with others attending for the first time. Enjoy light refreshments.

First Timers' Welcome Reception (Students)

Come mix and mingle with other CSD students and get a rundown of the ASHA Convention survival guide. Preview programs and activities and meet the NSSLHA and ASHA who's who. Enjoy light refreshments, games, and more!

ASHA-PAC Reception (Ticketed)

Please join the ASHA-PAC Board in honoring the 2025 ASHA-PAC Excellence in Advocacy Honorees at the ASHA-PAC Reception. This special event benefits ASHA-PAC, which serves as the political voice of the audiology and speech-language pathology professions on Capitol Hill. Tickets are available as an ASHA-PAC contribution through registration or may be purchased at the door by ASHA members, who are U.S. citizens.

Audiology Early Career Professionals Breakfast

ASHA’s Early Career Professionals (ECP) program, for audiologists who have worked in the profession for 5 years or fewer, kicks off at the convention with this breakfast event. Audiology ECPs have been connecting through virtual month presentations throughout the year exploring professional development topics and participating in an online community where they can connect with their cohort during the year and beyond.

Special Interest Group (SIG) Gathering

Join representatives from all 20 of ASHA’s Special Interest Groups (SIGs) for a joint networking event. Connect with fellow passionate professionals, enjoy light refreshments, and learn something new about the SIGs. All are welcome, so bring a friend and make new connections!

International Reception

Welcome, international participants! Please join ASHA leadership and international staff for the annual International Reception and enjoy networking and mingling with your colleagues from around the world. Your international colleagues look forward to meeting you! Cash bar. No RSVP is needed.

An Evening with the ASHFoundation Reception (Ticketed)

Join the American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation for an inspiring Evening with the ASHFoundation to celebrate the achievements of the 2025 cohort of research grant, scholarship, and clinical award recipients. Indulge in delicious food, snap a picture in a photo booth or participate in a silent auction, and enjoy a night of celebration. Join us for this lively and enlightening networking reception. You'll have an opportunity to connect with members of the Multicultural Issues Board, colleagues from the Multicultural Constituency Groups, and participants in this year's Minority Student Leadership Program.

NSSLHA Awards and Celebration

Join us as we celebrate the 2024–2025 NSSLHA Honors awardees. Enjoy light refreshments and beverages as we celebrate students, chapters, and advisors at this free event.

Friday, November 21

Audiology and Hearing-Related SIGnificant Brunch

Are you interested in ASHA's hearing-related Special Interest Groups (SIGs)? Audiology members and audiology students, as well as affiliates of SIGs 6, 7, 8, and 9 or those interested in joining, are invited to an exclusive brunch co-sponsored by Interacoustics, Educational Audiology Association, and SIGs 6, 7, 8, and 9. Seating will be limited, so plan to arrive early.

"Hear, Here!" Audiology Open House

Following the Awards Ceremony, all audiologists and audiology students attending the ASHA Convention are invited to this free sponsored reception. Enjoy light appetizers while mingling with your peers.

Many colleges and universities, and affiliated organizations, traditionally hold open houses following the Awards Ceremony on Friday evening. Affiliate groups may request function space for receptions or open houses. The ASHA Leadership Q&A: A Membership Chat With the Board provides an opportunity for you to meet with the ASHA Board of Directors and staff to learn about organization objectives and initiatives. You are also invited to offer feedback on the direction and activities of the Association. Come to the Leadership Q&A with your questions, concerns, and ideas.
