Proposals appropriate for submission to this topic area include undergraduate and/or graduate models of teaching and learning in higher education. Topics may include scholarship of teaching and learning and models of academic education. Interprofessional education and/or research that addresses the implementation of interprofessional competencies within curricular or practice models should be included in this topic area. This topic focuses exclusively on content specific to the academic preparation of future clinicians.

Research and Professional Education

  • Translational, applied, or implementation research related to academic preparation of future clinicians
  • Methods for studying student learning in academic environments in CSD
  • Innovative curricular design and models of program delivery
  • Curricular development of emerging programs (e.g., audiology and speech-language pathology assistants, clinical doctoral programs in audiology and speech-language pathology)
  • Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
  • Professional development for academic teaching and learning
  • Evaluation, assessment, and/or effectiveness of:
  • Classroom-based or programmatic curriculum (e.g. case-based, problem-based, flipped classroom)

  • Curriculum designed to promote fairness and access across learning styles
  • Recruitment and admissions processes that address inequities and expand access

  • Uses and applications of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in academic teaching/learning
