Service & Policy: Security and Safety

If a medical emergency occurs while you are at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, please contact the Security Control Office immediately:

  • Dial 3333 from any house phone located in the facility.
  • Dial 202-249-3333 from any phone.
  • Describe the patient's symptoms and their location in the Convention Center.
  • Ask any uniformed Convention Center employee for assistance.

Please do not contact 911 directly when possible. Contacting the Command Center at the numbers above will greatly minimize the response time of emergency response units, in the event that they need to be dispatched to the facility. Convention Center Security Officers can lead emergency response units directly to the individual in need.

After you have alerted the Command Center Office, please inform the nearest ASHA staff at an ASHA Info Booth of the situation.
