Maximizing Your Continuing Education Credit at the ASHA Convention

You can to earn up to 32 PDHs or 3.2 ASHA Continuing Education Units (ASHA CEUs) including pre-Convention activities, or up to 28 PDHs or 2.8 ASHA CEUs for the three official days of the ASHA Convention. Learn more about how to submit your ASHA Convention activities for continuing education credit.

Any session that has a four-digit session number carries continuing education credit. All types of CE-eligible programming count towards the maximum earnable amount of continuing education credit, so the ticketed pre-Convention workshops are included in the total. Earning the maximum amount of hours may not be possible for everyone.

In order to earn as many credits as possible, you must use of every moment of scheduled programming to attend a CE-eligible session—and fill in gaps with poster presentations. This requires very careful planning and may be challenging.

The day-by-day maximum continuing education breakdown is as follows:

Wednesday: 4 PDHs

  • Attend a pre-convention workshop sponsored by the Florida Speech-Language-Hearing Association (FLASHA) or by the American Board of Child Language and Child Language Disorders (ticketed; additional fee) = 3 PDHs
  • For those invited to attend, the Researcher-Academic Town Meeting (by invitation only) adds 1 PDH to the total.

You can still earn up to 28 PDHs or 2.8 ASHA CEUs without the pre-Convention workshops. See below for a schedule beginning on Thursday.

Thursday: 8 PDHs

  • Attend an oral seminar, technical session, hands-on lab or a short course (ticketed;extra fee) during every time block = 6 PDHs
  • If you take advantage of all scheduled breaks between other sessions to attend poster presentations or a hands-on lab, you can earn an additional 2 PDHs. Each poster equals 15 minutes of PDHs, and the break schedule allows up to 8 poster visits = 2 PDHs.

Friday: 9.5 PDHs

  • Attend an oral seminar, technical session, hands-on lab or a short course (ticketed;extra fee) during every time block = 7 PDHs
  • Visit a combination of poster presentations or hands-on labs during scheduled breaks = 2.5 PDHs

Saturday: 10.5 PDHs

  • Attend an oral seminar, technical session, hands-on lab or a short course (ticketed;extra fee) during every time block = 7 PDHs
  • Visit a combination of technical sessions, poster presentations or hands-on labs during scheduled breaks = 3.5 PDHs
