The ASHA Convention is the strongest professional education program for audiologists, speech-language pathologists, speech and hearing scientists, and related professionals. Education sessions are offered in a variety of in-person and virtual formats and are all are eligible for ASHA Continuing Education Credit or professional development hours.
All ASHA Convention education sessions are listed in the Convention Planner and the ASHA Convention mobile app. The planner and the app allow you to browse sessions, read session descriptions and author bios, and view presenter disclosures. Use the planner and app to save sessions you want to attend to your personal schedule. Session materials, such as handouts (if shared by presenters), are also accessed through the Convention Planner and mobile app.
The education program covers 33 topic areas related to the professions. Each session is aligned with a topic area to help you focus on the sessions that match your professional interests.
Education sessions at the ASHA Convention are offered in several formats; you can learn more by reading the descriptions on the Session Formats page. Each of these session types are eligible for ASHA Continuing Education Credit or professional development hours.
In-person registration allows you to attend any Oral Seminar, Technical Session, or Poster Presentation. Short Courses are ticketed sessions that you can add to your registration for a small fee.
The Virtual Program offers supplementary content for the ASHA Convention education program. On-demand sessions will be available online for 3 weeks.
A limited selection of 1-hour Oral Seminars taking place at the ASHA Convention will also be broadcasted live (slides and audio only) to the virtual platform.
Anyone can view the virtual sessions; however, you can only claim continuing education credit for them if you are registered for the full ASHA Convention or for virtual-only access. We offer a low-cost virtual-only registration rate so you can take advantage of this learning opportunity!
The ASHA Convention offers additional opportunities to learn through Pre-Convention Workshops, specially-developed Invited Sessions, and the popular Research Symposium session series.
Kickstart your experience at the in-person ASHA Convention with pre-convention workshops that will take place on Wednesday, November 18, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tickets are $80 each and may be purchased through registration. Indiana residents receive a special discount and may purchase tickets for only $40 each.
Some sessions feature presenters who have been specially invited to present on a topic by the Convention Program Committee. The presenters of these sessions hold expertise on the topic or subject area of the session. Sessions featuring invited presenters are noted in the session descriptions. One-hour Oral Seminars featuring invited presenters are included with your registration and everyone is welcome to attend them. All 2-hour Short Courses feature invited presenters and are ticketed with an additional fee.
The Convention Program Committee selects Meritorious Posters and Sessions, a special designation for proposals they have judged to be exceptional during their review process.
The Research Symposium brings together clinicians and researchers at the ASHA Convention to discuss current research that has important implications for the study of communication sciences and disorders (CSD).
The Research Symposium on Hearing focuses on a specific theme in hearing research and is presented by invited speakers who are experts in their fields.
The Convention Program Committee (CPC) is the volunteer-led group responsible for the development of the annual education program for the ASHA Convention. The CPC reviews proposals submitted to the Call for Papers, invites speakers, and selects the most relevant and impactful educational content that addresses the latest research, health, education, and social issues at the forefront of the CSD professions.
