How to Play
  1. Download the ASHA Convention mobile app.
  2. Select the Scavenger Hunt button on the home screen to register.
  3. Earn points by visiting participating sponsored booths and ASHA stops inside the Seattle Convention Center (both Arch and Summit buildings).
  4. Talk with a sponsor representative in their booth. Enter the code number or scan the QR code in the app to earn your points.

Opening General Session

The Opening General Session kicks off the ASHA Convention. This popular event brings everyone together to celebrate the speech, language, and hearing professional community and celebrates our 2024 theme, “ELEVATE!” You'll be welcomed by ASHA President Tena McNamara, who will update everyone about the Association’s activities and accomplishments and share her insights on the theme. Then, Convention Co-Chairs Jerrold Jackson and Kimberly Ward will offer a preview of what’s in store for you in Seattle this year—including special sessions, new events, and other highlights. Finally, we will welcome special guest Alison Levine as keynote speaker. Alison Levine is a history-making mountaineer and explorer. She served as team captain of the first American Women’s Everest Expedition, has climbed the highest peak on each continent, and has skied to both the North and South Poles—known as the Adventure Grand Slam—a feat which only twenty people in the world have achieved. Sponsored by Presence.

ASHA Awards Ceremony

The ASHA Awards Ceremony celebrates high achievements and excellence in the professions. Awards presented this evening include the Honors of the Association—ASHA's most prestigious award, which recognizes lifetime achievement—and ASHA Fellows, whose recipients' contributions are the cornerstones of the communication sciences and disorders (CSD) professions. ASHA will present additional awards to honor other members who have also contributed to the professions and to ASHA.

The Annie Glenn Award will also be presented. It is named after the late Annie Glenn, a devoted champion for people with communication disorders. It honors individuals or groups who are champions much like the award’s namesake. This year, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, an advocate for people who stutter and a former college basketball national champion who went on to play in the National Basketball Association will receive the Annie. The ASHA Convention is one of the largest professional development events for audiologists; speech-language pathologists; speech, language, and hearing scientists; and speech-language pathology and audiology assistants. Bringing together approximately 15,000 attendees, the annual Convention offers more than 2,500 sessions eligible for ASHA continuing education credit covering the latest research, clinical skills, and techniques in communication sciences and disorders.
