Convention Co-Chairs Tena McNamara and Laura Purcell Verdun welcome you to the 2021 ASHA Convention. In partnership with the Convention Program Committee, they work to offer a wide array of sessions that draw on our theme, "Rising UNITED" to meet the continuing education needs of communication sciences and disorders professionals. The co-chairs invite you to submit a proposal to present this year at the ASHA Convention.
We're preparing for all outcomes this year and are currently planning the 2021 ASHA Convention as a hybrid event. In addition to a traditional—but scaled-back—in-person event, a virtual library of pre-recorded presentations will be available for on-demand viewing.
We're optimistic about the upcoming year; however, the hybrid format will prepare us if we need to convert to a fully virtual event. To plan for our hybrid event, we've made some changes to the Call for Papers, so be sure to review all information before you submit a proposal.
If you have any questions, please email our program team at email@example.com.
The 2021 Call for Papers will be open from February 22, 2021 to April 6, 2021, 11:59 p.m., Pacific Time. Notifications of acceptance/non-acceptance will be sent to all authors via email in mid-July, no later than July 20, 2021.
To accommodate proposals for both in-person and pre-recorded sessions, we have modified the Call for Papers submission process, in addition to the session formats. Please thoroughly read the updated Submission Guidelines before you login to begin the Call for Papers submission process, because some things have changed this year. The guidelines outline the submission process, define terms, and provide explanations of information required to submit a proposal.
Before submitting your proposal to the Call for Papers, it is extremely important that you read, understand, and agree to follow the principles, guidelines, and procedures outlined in the Author Agreement and Disclosure Policy.
Read more about the disclosure policy in the Frequently Asked Questions for Presenters.
Educational programming at the ASHA Convention covers a wide variety of Topic Areas relevant to the professions. When you submit a proposal to the Call for Papers, you must select the topic that best corresponds to your presentation. Please note that the Convention Program Committee has the authority to recategorize a proposal if the selected Topic Area is not appropriate.
The Convention Co-Chairs lead the Convention Program Committee, which invites speakers, reviews proposal submissions to the Call for Papers, and helps select the most informative content to be presented during the ASHA Convention.
ASHA seeks qualified and enthusiastic individuals to share responsibility for the development and management of the education program for the ASHA Convention. The 2023 Call for Co-Chairs is open. The deadline to submit an application is May 31, 2021.
